Supervised School Homework

School homework will be completed under the supervision of our experienced teachers; one-on-one assistant(s) will be provided to help understand and solve homework problems.

Chinese

Chinese lessons are offered once a week from Monday through Friday at a variety of levels depending on students' backgrounds, with 30 minutes reading and in-class-homework every day. We use a simplified Chinese character textbook from Jinan University. We offer 16 lectures and two (mid and final) exams per academic semester. Any problem students experience are solved daily by one-on-one coaching with the teacher.

Mathematics

Our math program is the strongest among all available math classes/programs in the metroplex. Our students are trained in math fundamentals and extensive ways of applying the fundamentals to complex and brain-twisting problems. Past achievements prove that our students can go to math competitions and PISD's Credit by Exam and achieve great results without any extra preparation or special training. Another excellent value of our great math program is that it is FREE to our students.

Our math program consists of three levels of math classes for each grade:
Standard Math:
Standard Math coordinates with national standards to help our students strengthen school and become familiar with formats and techniques of the state and PISD assessment tests (such as PACE, TAKS, CogAT and MAP). It includes basic skills and concepts, problem solving strategies, figure recognition, critical thinking and logic.
Advanced Math I:
In addition to Standard Math, Advanced Math I challenges students with more complex problems. Students in this class are advanced one grade higher and completely finish 6th grade math at the end of the 5th grade.
Advanced Math II:
In addition to Advanced Math I, Advanced Math II gives students even more challenges. Students in this class are advanced two grades higher and prepared for the PISD's Credit by Exam test to jump to 8th grade math at the end of the 5th grade.

Reading and Writing

Reading and writing provide extensive training and exercises to our students daily. These reading and writing exercises includes vocabulary, sequence, main idea, inference, concept connections, reading comprehension, basic writing skills, spelling, grammar, and more.

Our comprehensive exercises and general test preparation are designed to help our students to strengthen school reading and math, and become familiar with formats and techniques of the state and PISD assessment tests (such as PACE, TAKS, CogAT and MAP).

We also provide our students optional English writing class, which is taught by professional English writing instructors.

Table Tennis (Ping-Pong Ball)

Table tennis, or ping-pong, is an enjoyable sport that can be highly competitive, where each player tries to outscore his/her opponent through the use of skill, strength, speed, stamina and strategy. The table tennis program is offered to our students as a serious and exciting sport and to provide an environment where students of all skill levels can participate. QD Academy has the nation’s top ping-pong club and the best ping-pong coach in the U.S. It has trained several national champions and top players in the past 4 years.

QD Academy provides a wide variety of ping-pong classes, from entry-level group lessons to master-level one-on-one lessons. For either purpose of simple exercise for good health or becoming the nation’s top athlete as golden ticket to your dream college, our ping-pong program will surely help you to achieve your goal and make your dream become true.

Chess

The chess program is offered to our students as a tool to improve critical thinking and decision-making, as well as scholastic performance and social skills. QD Academy works with the best chess coach to provide our students the best chess program. Currently, three levels of group chess lessons and private lessons are offered from entry to advanced levels. Free chess club and mini-tournaments are provided to our students every day.

Chess is counted as sports and contributes to a student's college application total score points and is adopted by all of the nation's top universities. QD Sports & Arts Academy’s chess program is for our students’ benefit only. Unlike other schools’ chess programs, QD Academy hasn’t profited a single penny from this program in the past 6 years.

Leadership Speech

Leadership speech (story telling for K-3 students) trains and improves our students’ leadership, speech, organization, and social skills. It helps students to build strong self-confidence to face a wide variety of challenges. Our leadership speech and story-telling program has been a great success. The well-organized and prepared lessons have brought great impact to our students' speech, organizing, and leadership skills. All students have gained confidence and speech skills from the program. Some students, who were too shy to talk in front of others before, became weekly speech winners. What great improvement!

Other Classes

QD Academy also offers a variety of other classes in the after school program. These classes included  (but are not limited to) Basketball, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Ballet, Kong Fu, and Drawing.
